Common FAQ

1. I am new to the sport. What can I expect?

Quality training, patient trainers and lots of fun! Our trainings consist of (but not limited to) physical training, technique drills, and padwork. Contact sparring is held in separate sessions and will only be available to membership holders.


2. Do I need my own equipment?

No, with the exception of hand wraps. Here at Yod Muay Fitness, we provide all the necessary equipment for training. However, it is highly encouraged for individuals to purchase their own equipment once you have decided to dedicate yourself into the sport.


3. What should I bring?

All you have to bring is sports attire, yourself, and your fighting spirit. Optional recommended items: Water Bottle, Towel, Spare set of clothes (post-training).


4. I would like my own personal equipment, how do I know what to buy?

At YMF our trainers will be able to recommend you on the various equipment and the recommended size/type. We also do bring in our own assorted equipment which can be immediately and directly purchased from us (while stocks last).


5. Is there a place to freshen up after training?

Yes! We have a washroom equipped with a shower and basic toiletries.


6. Can I do this for fitness only?

Definitely! While Muay Thai may seem like an intimidating sport, here at Yod Muay Fitness, we cater our training to your training goals.


7. Can I become a fighter?

Yes, it is possible! If you are interested in becoming a fighter, Yod Muay Fitness can provide the necessary training for you to step into the ring. However, to be part of our fight team is on a case-by-case basis and is up to the discretion of our trainers.


8. Is this a violent sport? Will I get hurt?

While Muay Thai is traditionally meant for combat, our training regime is safe and focuses on fitness, techniques, and padwork. Should you be interested in contact sparring, separate sessions are available.


9. Can my child join? What is the age range?

We have currently ceased our children’s classes. However, anyone above the age of 13 can join us!


10. If I have pre-existing medical issues can I still join?

For the safest experience, please speak to us beforehand so that we may assess your individual situation. Depending on the pre-existing condition, our trainers will ensure that they adjust and cater to your needs.


11. Will being an introvert compromise my training?

Not at all! Being an introvert is not something to be worried about, so long as you are willing to learn our trainers will ensure you receive only the best of quality training regardless of social preferences.


12. As a sport/ self defense art, why Muay Thai?

Muay Thai is traditionally a martial art used in real combat. As a self-defense art, Muay Thai has proven over history to be an effective form of combat. For Muay Thai to be effective, it requires the practitioner to be conditioned and well-trained, this translates into effective training even as a sport.


13. Why YMF?

Here at YMF, we provide authentic and traditional Muay Thai techniques in fun and creative ways. YMF believes that Muay Thai is for everybody and we will do our best to cater to the needs of each individual while not compromising quality of training.
