Founder
Nicholas Ho
"Kru Nik"
Every martial arts gym has a story, but Yod Muay Fitness was born out of a distinct vision: bridging authentic, high-level Thai striking techniques with accessible functional fitness. At the center of this movement stands Kru Nik, whose journey from practitioner to head coach and founder reflects a deep dedication to the art of Eight Limbs.
The Foundation & Philosophy
The term "Yod Muay" (ยอดมวย) translates roughly to "Supreme Fighter" or "Top-Tier Boxer"—a status reserved in Thailand for fighters who demonstrate elite technique, ring intelligence, and spirit. When Kru Nik set out to establish Yod Muay Fitness, his goal was not just to run another commercial Muay Thai studio, but to create a space that honored this traditional standard while remaining inclusive to everyday fitness enthusiasts.
Before founding the gym, Kru Nik recognized a glaring gap in the fitness market:
The Commercial Gym Issue: Many fitness centers offered "cardio Muay Thai " classes that stripped away true mechanics, teaching improper form that led to injuries or bad habits.
The Traditional Gym Barrier: On the flip side, hardcore fighter gyms often proved intimidating, unapproachable, or lacking in structured conditioning for beginners.
Yod Muay Fitness was established to solve this exact problem, providing authentic Muay Thai mechanics combined with modern strength and conditioning principles.
Core Pillars of Yod Muay Fitness
Authentic Mechanics First: Every student, regardless of skill level, learns proper hip rotation, guard placement, body leverage, and footwork rather than just mindlessly punching the air.
Progressive Conditioning: Classes incorporate pad work, heavy bag drills, and functional bodyweight exercises designed to build cardiovascular endurance, core strength, and mobility.
Community & Culture: Kru Nik emphasized a family-oriented training environment built on respect, discipline, and mutual encouragement, stripping away the toxic ego often found in combat sports space.
Through custom pad work, technical sparring, and tailored fitness regimens, Kru Nik built Yod Muay Fitness into a hub where complete beginners, fitness seekers, and aspiring fighters train under one roof.
Today, the gym stands as a testament to Kru Nik’s passion for preserving the legacy of Thai boxing while helping everyday people unlock their peak physical conditioning.
Kru Nik
Years of Experience: 19 years
Style Specialty: Muay Femur (Slick, evasive technician) / Muay Boran (Traditional Thai martial art)
Preferred Fight Style: Muay Bouk (Aggressive, relentless forward-pressure fighter)
Favorite Cuisine: Hainanese Chicken Rice
Style Profile: The Technician Meets the Aggressor
Kru Nik presents a unique blend of martial arts disciplines. Possessing 19 years of deep-rooted experience, his technical foundation bridges ancient techniques and modern ring craft:
Muay Femur & Muay Boran Roots: Having mastered Muay Femur, Kru Nik operates with high ring IQ, footwork, balance, and defensive evasion. His knowledge of Muay Boran adds classic Thai martial art mechanics, leveraging joint manipulation, traditional stances, and devastating counters.
The Muay Bouk Mindset: Despite his deep technical toolbox, his preferred fighting style leans toward Muay Bouk—pushing the pace, marching forward, throwing heavy combinations, and wearing down opponents with relentless pressure.
This duality makes Kru Nik an exceptionally dynamic coach: he possesses the technical knowledge to teach precision and evasion, combined with the grit to train fighters for hard-hitting, forward-moving pressure.
